TEA (ICAO lvl. 1-6) Exam
As the skies become more crowded, radio communication has become increasingly important in terms of safety in aviation. New regulations of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) impose requirements for English proficiency, which are applicable for pilots and air traffic controllers. All ATCOs and pilots flying in international airspace, should now have a minimum level of English ICAO Operational Level 4.
In June 2010, Ad Astra Warsaw Flight Academy, in cooperation with the Mayflower College, received a certificate of authority to conduct tests of Aviation English in accordance with ICAO requirements (levels 1-6). The examination takes the form of conversation with the examiner, during which six aspects of English language are evaluated: pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interactions.
The test takes about 20 minutes, it is conducted entirely in English and recorded on an audio medium. The material is then rated by two independent examiners. Within 10 working days, the candidate receives a certificate containing results of sub-elements subject to evaluation and the overall score (level 1-6). The cost of the examination is 1000 PLN.

Those wishing to improve their skills in English, we invite to a preparatory course. Classes are held in groups of up to 10 participants and consist of 60 clock hours of lectures and exercises. We anticipate several variants of courses, depending on the profile of the group. We are aware that for some professional groups, such as pilots and air traffic controllers, it is difficult to organize enough time for daily participation in the course, that's why we'd like to adjust to Customers' needs. Depending on the demand, we offer courses:
- 5 days per week, 4 hours daily, duration: 3 weeks
- 3 days per week. 5 hours daily, duration: 4 weeks
Cost: 3000 PLN.
