Aero Therapy
Ad Astra Warsaw Flight Academy – added to its services a new course
which has been designed to decrease the effects of aviophobia. Even
though flight is one of the safest means of transport, many people still
suffer from aviophobia.
The Aero Therapy course consists of a hour talk with a psychologist that discusses and identifies the source of this fear of flying. The patient will receive in depth information on the topic of flying, regulations and flight procedures. A training in relaxation methods takes place where you are taught how you can take control over any negative emotions, lessen your fear and how to regulate your breathing.
Relaxation techniques are carried out to avoid symptoms that accompany aviophobia such as: asphyxiation, increased heart/breathing rate, sweating hands, tightness of the throat, dizziness and many more.
After a session with the psychologist, the patient has the option of going on a 30 minute flight with an experienced instructor on an aircraft or flight simulator. During this part of the therapy a psychologist will also be present, acting as support for the patient.
Additionally, the instructor will show the patient things he was previously unaware of, for example: the capabilities of the aircraft, how the flight procedures and radio transmissions work.
The person taking the Aero Therapy course has the option of taking control of the aircraft and have a feel of what it really is to pilot. The fundamental problem that people have with aviophobia is that they do not understand the basic principles that the plane is subject to during flight.
